I started, ran and built a people business through good times and bad over 20 years.

I exited successfully last year in a bank-funded MBO. Now I advise and mentor start-up and scale-up business owners (and their next tier talent), with:

As well as building a business, in my career I’ve built reputation and awareness for many companies. Ideation of PR “assets” that cut through and attract business & clients is my secret sauce. I can be your fractional, advisory comms guru. 

And I nurture mid-manager PR and comms people to deliver their best work.

I deploy my simple “MAD for it” acronym to guide my approach to building profile and reputation for B2B companies and their leaders:

  • Message - clarify what you want to say and to whom
  • Asset - what stories, evidence, examples and initiatives support your message. Create them if necessary
  • Delivery - how and where you get it out there: Broadcast, LinkedIn/social, traditional media, bloggers, industry events, podcasts are in the mix.

Nurturing my small portfolio of EIS/SEIS investments

I’ve made a limited number of investments in businesses where my expertise and network can add value. Let me know if you see an opportunity for me to get involved. My portfolio includes:

  • Synapse Media, the start-up “PR stories marketplace” 
  • Fenestra, a growing programmatic advertising productivity platform 
  • A new planned B2B Venture fund: helping raising capital and advising founders

NEXT STEPS

I typically work on a 1-3 days a month basis providing one or more of these 

strands. I like spending face-to-face time with people where possible.

But it’s agreed outcomes you will want – whether for the business as a whole, yourself as a leader, or a member of your team. That will be my focus – not the clock!
